Sauska x Ökumenikus Segélyszervezet Cuvée

Villány 2016

As a result of our long partnership with Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA)  we now proudly offer two remarkable wines for the winter holiday season. For each bottle purchased, the winery supports the work of HIA helping needy families and children with HUF 1,500.

Sauska Cuvée 2016 is a limited edition, specially labeled, full-bodied Villány blend of Kékfrankos, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of cherries, rosehips, oriental spices and oak lead the nose followed by red berries and fine tobacco on the palate. Its playful minerality is nicely framed by well-integrated wood.

Winemaking

Hand-sorted berries gently crushed and briefly soaked. Total maceration in stainless steel tanks to preserve the grape primer character.

Aged for 15 months in used and new (20-25%) French oak barrels.

The Year

Classic vintage with good ripeness of the tannins and ageing potential. The 2016 vintage started with spring frost in April that affected mainly our young vineyards. Apart from this and some summer rainstorms, the vintage happened in an expected way, and we could harvest some fantastically balanced and healthy fruit.
