Padi

Padi

Contemporary Hungarian restaurant immersed in the world of wines. Cooks, sommeliers, viticulturist, and winemakers in united front for everything delicious.

“If wine’s your thing, you can’t go wrong with a visit to this striking hillside building in the heart of wine country. You must open, of course, one of their own Sauska wines in the smart bar, before heading through to the sleek restaurant whose wonderful terrace offers views over the vines below. There’s a small à la carte of refined, eye-catching dishes as well as two tasting menus on offer, one themed around Tokaj itself – choose this option along with their local wine recommendations to fully immerse yourself in the region. To really complete the experience, ask for a peek into their winery below.” Michelin Guide – Opening of the Year 2025.

“We live at the intersection of the vineyard and the forest. All the treasures of the Zemplén and Tokaj are within reach: grapes, large and small game, birds, snails, mushrooms, honey, and figs are all highlighted in the peaceful rhythm of the seasons, allowing us to enjoy them time and time again.”

Our five-course Tasting Menu is always evolving, inspired by the seasons, the surrounding nature, and the wines maturing in our cellar.

The “Tribute to Tokaj” five-course menu is an homage to our gorgeous home country, Tokaj-Hegyalja, and is paired with local sparkling wines, as well as Tokaj dry and sweet wines.

Additionally, the À la carte menu allows guests to personalize their culinary experience.

À la carte menu and seasonal offers

Our wine selection proudly showcases Hungary’s most historic wine region, highlighting the traditional and modern values of Tokaj. We offer a diverse range of wines, including sparkling wines, dry wines, several vintages of Aszú, and Essencia.

The Sauska family is rooted in two exceptional wine regions, and we want our guests to appreciate this as well. Therefore, our wine list includes a rich selection of red wines from their Villány winery.

Our restaurant’s wine list features a unique selection from our family cellar, curated by our Wine Director, Sebastian Giraldo multiple Hungarian sommelier champion. This collection showcases exceptional wines from around the world that have filled us with joy, offered valuable lessons, and served as quality references throughout the years.

We hope that this unique crossover of Tokaj, Villány, and notable global wines brings our guests as much joy as it brings us in creating our own wines.

The sommelier was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, but not intrusive. The food phenomenal; we got lots of nice surprises, little bites from the chef during the night. Kudos to everyone and thank you for making this evening such a great one for us.

A very pleasant evening! Out of the group of six, the girls ordered individually, the boys chose the tasting menu with wine pairing. The restaurant combines local gastronomy with fine dining elements very well! Huge congratulations to the Chef! The wines are great; that’s the point here!

We ordered the Valentine’s Day menu, which was flawless and had many nice surprises that weren’t on the menu.
Maximum expertise combined with excellent dishes; I recommend it to everyone! It was simply a perfect experience.

We chose the a la carte three-course menu – which is six courses with the appetizers and the gift snacks – accompanied by some wine and bubbles…every dish was wonderfully composed…My favorite was the pork terrine. The view from the terrace is simply amazing!

Máté Gerák

Resident chef. „Tokaj Hegyalja is the center of my heart: I love the proximity of nature, wines, and vineyards. And the place where I can put this love into shape the most is the kitchen: we have a lot of things here in this region that give inspiration for work.

The grapes themselves, the wines with their supercool volcanic minerality, the mushrooms, the local cheeses. I don’t think people come to us to be stressed and to have an overly formal service.

No matter how fast the pace is, I like relaxed things, not overcomposed, complicated, cut-out dishes. One of my favorites, for example, is a toss-up Thai noodle, which I think goes great with our mineral Tokaj wines.

Fortunately, the chef’s imagination also flies freely, I am very proud to be able to learn from Chef Attila Bicsár.

Self-realization, learning, and, of course, the possibility of success, which is why I became a chef and I really love my job.”

Attila Bicsár

The Executive Chef passionately wanted to be a cook from the age of twelve, and to this day he is most deeply inspired by the flavors of home.
It is important for him that his dishes evoke memories, but still provide a new experience this is the main feature of his style of duality, even in his detailed plates there is always the warmth of home cooking.

He spent a critical decade and a half of his life traveling and working in the world of fine dining, from Budapest to Austria then United Kingdom, the USA and Japan.
He likes to teach, and all are happy to learn from his experiences. Many leading members of the contemporary generation of chefs can call themselves his students.
His favorite from the wider world is Latin American cuisine, whose explosive flavors and rich world of spices often appear in the dishes he composes, creating exciting harmonies with the flavors of Hungarian cuisine.

László Simonyák

Your host. He is the assurance that all who come to us after a long journey will not only find a warm and inviting interior, but also efficient and friendly service.

Laci has built his team lovingly and professionally. He graduated as a chef and then obtained a managerial internship at Bori Mami Restaurant in Gyöngyös.

During his tenure he became acquainted with Sauska wines and joined our Tokaj team after many years of personal acquaintance.

He considers it a great honor and challenge to be able to participate in the development of the winery’s restaurant image and style from the very beginning, for which his mind, heart and work ethic are a given.

Laci`s hobbies are gastronomy, travel, and poker, but we haven’t seen his poker face yet. He is always smiling , even more so, when he greets our guests.
