Extra Brut Vintage 2013

Tokaj 2013

Sparkling with pale gold reflections. Very intense and powerfully hedonistic aromas of lychee, citrus, and yellow peach lead the nose. Mellow in the mouth with freshly harvested peach, grapefruit and pomelo notes, orange blossom and white tea.

A beautiful example of a rich and giving year in Tokaj: great texture, powerful, even bubbles, and distinct volcanic-salty minerality.

The Year

Winter was long and cold to the extremes, with the lowest temperature of -20 ºC (-4 F) several times. The cold pushed the bud break to the second half of April and prolonged blooming. Tropical summer followed with very little rain. Harvest started early October (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc) giving enough time for Furmint and Hárslevelű to ripe slow and evenly which resulted awesome acid-sugar balance by October. After the last few vintages poor in botrytis we had the pleasure of harvesting some great quality Aszú. We are thrilled to be able to make sweet wine again!
